24 Hours in Denver: What I Packed
Sometimes you need a good long trip to help you unwind and of course, see more of the world. Our five weeks in Asia was an incredible trip. As magical as they are, these trips require oodles of planning and strategic thinking about what to pack, especially because we never check bags. On these trips I devote a good portion of my bag to wellness items: small fan for white noise, matcha supplies, supplements, extra shoes so my feet are always comfortable, medicine in case I get sick, a cozy hoodie in case I don’t feel well, creams for my sensitive skin, and extra food like my favorite power bars that I use for breakfast or snacks when there isn’t something that fits my eating plan.
Micro-sized trips, gone less than 48 hours are also magical. I’ve come to love them. For Christmas one year my partner and I went to Austin, each with one small bag. We took a red-eye that arrived on Christmas Eve. We went shopping, ate tacos, strolled around the city, ate at a diner, and then watched Christmas movies in bed until we fell asleep. Christmas Morning we flew home. It was one of my favorite holidays ever. While working in Berlin I took a 48 hour trip to Copenhagen. I brought a small backpack. Even though I got sick and didn’t get too do as much as I wanted, that trip was still wonderful for its minimal quality. I got to see the skate park I’d been dying to see, had some delicious soup, wonderful street art and even learned the danish word for pharmacy when I picked up some meds.
I recently spent 24 hours in Colorado. Given the short nature of the trip, I brought the bare minimum and very little for wellness. If I needed something I knew I could get it at the natural grocery store. Instead I focused on eating super healthy before I left and during the trip. This is an easy way to stay well while traveling.
I had a client meeting so I wanted to be sure to have an option that was comfortable but professional. Layers are key. I wore my favorite vegan leather joggers, a black and white striped tank, a light grey cropped hoodie, a tan tweed blazer and blush colored New Balance sneakers for a pop of color. For dinner I took off the hoodie and brought my Clare V leopard print double sac bretelle.

I carried my Louis Vuitton Never Full. It was the perfect size. I even had room for a bottle of water and snacks for the airport.

When I got home, unpacking took just 15 minutes. Micro trips have become my new favorite way to travel. I love the freedom of traveling this light. I love spending little energy packing. I’ve discovered these micro-trips are less taxing so they support my well-being. I can’t wait to begin planning my next destination. Where should I go?
