Hello, my name is Suzan Bond

I built hale + wander for everyone who needs to put in a bit of effort to stay healthy and well while traveling. You deserve to see the world too.

Technically, I live in New York City but with all the travel I do, you could say I live all over the world. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I started traveling when I was just a babe cradled in my mom’s arms. Every summer we hit the road in our station wagon, towing our pop-up camper behind us. By the age of 16 I’d been to every continental United state but one. I hiked the Rockies, rode horse back in the Teton Mountains, went fishing in Canada, visited national monuments in Washington D.C. and along the way, fell in love with the world.

Travel has always been a part of my life like breathing and water, but it’s not without challenges: namely that I manage multiple chronic illnesses. My patterns for staying healthy at home are relatively set these days but I have to adapt them while traveling. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about routines and habits to support well-being and wanderlust.

There are plenty of travel sites out there. This site won’t give much space on where to go or what to see, though we might on occasion. Our focus is on how to travel. Specifically, how to be well while you explore the world. The foundation of well-being is your regular routines so I also write about wellness at home.

My husband is my favorite travel companion but I just as often travel solo. I honestly enjoy both. While most of my articles will focus on your own wellness while you wander, some will focus on how to stay well while traveling with someone else.

If you have suggestions on what you’d like to see hale + wander cover or would like to write your story for the site, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
