travel bucket list
Where do I want to go? Everywhere!
When there’s a whole wide world to explore and only 24 hours a day, you have to prioritize. I’ve got two lists: one for the current year and one I keep running. The second list isn’t exhaustive, it’s just the places that are higher on my list and if I wrote down every single place I want to go, well we’d be here all day. So this is my list for now. Is your favorite place to travel not on my list? Tell me about it!
2023 Travel
This was a hard year. My mom was really sick so most of my travel was to Michigan to take care of my parents. Spending 14 hour days taking care of them was hard on my health until I found my routine of stopping at Whole Foods before going to their apartment.
I was able to squeeze in trips to other places mostly for work including:
Berlin
Iceland
Geneva
London
Paris
Rome
Sicily
Vatican City
Zurich
2023 was the year I finally knocked Italy and Switzerland off my list which thrilled me. (It’s also the year I learned that Vatican City is a country.)
Eating well in Reykjavik was easy though it was a bit more difficult when on the southern part of Iceland except for our hotel. We got stuck in a car for four hours during a wind storm with gusts over 100 miles an hours which was a harrowing experience. At some point I’ll write about how I stayed well during and after this stressful event.
Pasta is my kryptonite so staying well in Italy was tricky, especially in Sicily. Luckily I was almost always able to find fresh and delicious mussels. I even found kombucha and fresh veggies at the organic grocery store on Sicily which was a real help for my aching tummy.
Switzerland was easy to stay well in. We had the most amazing meal in Zurich that was a lovely respite from the pasta of Sicily. There were great organic groceries, delicious local kombucha and tasty matcha at several places in Geneva.
2019 Bucket List -CHECKED OFF!
Each year I try to get at least one or two places off my all time bucket list. This year is a big one as I’m finally taking a big one off my list — we’re going to Asia!! This trip is five years in the making. Given how long the flight is and the state of my health, we’ve been saving airline miles so that we could fly first class. The hard part was picking where we want to go, we want to see it all! We finally narrowed it down to four or five.
Vietnam
Cambodia
South Korea
Laos or Thailand
Domestically, I’ve been longing to go to Palm Springs or Nashville and think this is the year to make it to one of the biggest music cities in the states: Nashville.
Here are the other places you’ll find me in 2019:
Berlin (winter)
Washington D.C.
Denver (spring)
Dublin + Greystones, Ireland (summer)
Isla Mujeres, Mexico (summer)
Chicago (fall)
All-time Bucket List
International

Bostwana
Chile
Finland
Greece
Greenland
Japan
Panama
Portugal
Slovenia
South Africa
Uganda
Zimbabwe
New Zealand

Most of the places on my domestic bucket list are brand new for me but not all. As a child I saw so much of the states. As an adult, I love going back to these places and experiencing them now.
